Wild Grass – Sigiriya

Wild Grass offers the ultimate secluded luxury experience in the beautiful setting of Sigiriya. The resort limits itself to just 8 villas set amidst 25 acres of untouched forestland teeming with wildlife, giving ultimate space to explore. The resort itself looks modern upon first glance, with rectangular concrete stilted buildings, but this resort is all about the natural surroundings and has been built in a way as to fully immerse guests into the forest and keep the accommodation comfortable but simple, stylish yet uncomplicated, so as to give full focus to the forest.

Villas come in two types, Deluxe Villa or Family Villa. The Deluxe Villa can accommodate 2 – 3 guests with one bedroom, living area and bathroom, and the Family Villa accommodates 4 -6 guests with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and living area. The villas have been carefully designed in different layouts suited to couples, families or groups and so you are sure to find the right match for your group type. The villas are also designed to maximise guests’ experience of the surroundings, with panoramic glass windows offering a breath-taking wake-up view of the enchanting forest scenery and merge the barrier between outside and inside so you feel connected to nature. The bathrooms have outdoor terraces so you can shower under the sky which lends an exotic touch, and a private balcony or terrace for each villa means elegant wooden decking over the lush grasses below and between the entwining trees. The interior of these villas are minimalist and uncluttered, with natural materials and wooden furniture, giving a simple living space.

An open-side, two-storey pavilion houses the restaurant and lounge, boasting views of the Lenawa Lake and the magnificent Kandalama Hills. Guests can also choose to dine under the stars on the terrace, by the picturesque swimming pool, or in the privacy of their own villas. On location dining is also offered here with sunrise breakfast and rural picnics at viewpoints overlooking Sigirya Rock and Kandalama Reservoir. Excursions are all about the great outdoors and local sites, with guided tours of Sigiriya Rock, Dambulla Cave Temple, and jeep safaris.

Wild Grass prides itself on its strict nature conservation philosophy, and as such guests are encouraged to plant trees during their visit to offset their carbon-footprint. Other activities include yoga and meditation classes. Intimate, secluded and immersed in the natural beauty of the region, this idyllic retreat allows you to truly enjoy Sri Lankan nature without having to sacrifice luxury.
